    Grass-fed Beef (51)

100% Grass-fed and grass-finished beefiness raised on our family unit farm.

Grass is what cattle were designed to eat, and that's what our cattle go. But not all grass is the aforementioned.  The quality of the grass depends on the quality of the soil, which is why nosotros use regenerative practices in managing our cattle.  Perhaps the most of import practice that we utilise is mob grazing where nosotros keep the cattle in a large grouping and move them daily.  This mimics nature and makes splendid beef that yous can feel good well-nigh feeding to your family.

We also allow the cattle plenty time to accomplish their true potential rather than harvesting them before they are finished. We only harvest our cattle off of the best grass and never allow them to lose weight at any time. These methods ensure that the beef you buy tastes swell and is expert for y'all.

  • Pastured Pork

    Pastured Pork (32)

Our pigs are rotated through pocket-sized paddocks where they can graze and eat roughage in addition to their not-GMO grain ration. They have admission to fresh water and shelter besides. The pork from these pigs is much richer and healthier than that from industry pigs that have been in confinement.

  • Pastured Chicken

    Pastured Chicken (21)

These meat chickens are started in a brooder house for the kickoff few weeks later hatching. Once they develop adult feathers they are moved onto pasture where they have shelter, fresh air, sunshine and a new "salad bar" every day. The one time-per-mean solar day move helps the birds to ingest as much grass as possible and gets them away from yesterday'south manure. We process the chickens nether a South Carolina poultry processing exemption for pocket-sized farmers.

  • Pastured Eggs

    Pastured Eggs (4)

They are fed 100% non-gmo feed and always have admission to fresh h2o, shelter, sunshine, grass and bugs, and misters to keep them comfortable in the summer heat. When visiting the grocery shop practise you lot ever feel frustrated by all the unlike food certifications and label claims?

To add to the defoliation, the term "Regenerative" is starting to pop everywhere and is chop-chop becoming the newest buzzword.

A lot of confusion exists even amongst industry professionals in addition to consumers virtually what "Regenerative" actually looks like on the farm level.

How each unique farm implements regenerative practices tin can and should look very different. But, bottom line:If soil health is improving then everything else will follow including improved food quality, a cleaner environment and a healthier society.

To help y'all grasp what regenerative farming looks like at Watson Farms, I've compiled a fun list of examples of how nosotros've replaced conventional tools and practices with a regenerative arroyo:

Earthworms Replace Fertilizers

Considering we merely utilize no-till at Watson Farms, our soils are teeming with an army of millions of earthworms that come up to the surface of the soil to recycle litter and dead constitute materials to feed the life below the soil.

These same worms tin can produce upwardly to 160,000 lb of castings per acre each year. Castings are extremely rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Who needs harmful synthetic fertilizers when you takemillions of earthworms working below the soil!

Cows Replace Combines & Sequester Carbon

Each twelvemonth over 14 million cattle in the US are raised in feedlots and fed grain that must be mechanically harvested with expensive equipment and then hauled to the feedlot. But who needs a $500,000 combine to harvest and booty grain to the cattle feedlot when you consider the fact that cows are designed with 4 legs and a rumen and are perfectly equipped to self-harvest their own nutrient?

The Large benefit is that when cows are grazed properly on grasslands they work in symbiosis to regenerate the soil and sequester a internet positive amount of carbon back into the soil.

Here'due south 1 of our "cocky-propelled harvesters" at work.

I've had some skillful helpers lately as we have been mob grazing some excellent spring pastures. With a little help from Abby and Noah, we can move 170 caput of cattle into a new paddock in about 45 minutes. That includes moving their mineral and drinker tank which is fed through an underground network of h2o pipe with quick couplers installed at certain intervals. This pipe network allows us to h2o cattle in whatsoever of the hundreds of temporary paddocks that we brand with polywire and step in posts. This flexibility allows us to adjust our paddock size to meet the needs of the cattle and the forage. In the cease it translates to a grazing system that mimics nature and regenerates soil while producing the best beefiness in the world!
